|=|, is a collaborative project with the group argh.* The collective’s work is linked to the public sphere and its meeting spaces in particular. The group often proposes public sculptures that are never materialized and always remain in the realm of “to come”.

Here, the idea was to design a public sculpture that would be placed in water -a strange object in the natural environment camouflaged however, because of its reflective surface connecting it to its surroundings. This specific lake constitutes the central meeting place of Mooste, a rural area of Estonia where we spent three weeks as artists in residence in MoKS project space. The floating sculpture would be free to drift around the lake so that people from each of the communities built around it would be able to interact with it. The square was used as a shape because of the function that the lake has for the locals as a meeting point (its “equivalent” being a central square in a city), thus also forming a link with the missing square of the postcards (see project #arghgroupframe).

The project was presented, along with other work produced while in residency, in MoKS project space Open Studios.
